summertime!!!!!

It's summertime, summertime
Sum-sum-summertime
Summertime, summertime
Sum-sum-summertime
Summertime, summertime
Sum-sum-summertime
Summertime, summertime
Sum-sum-summertime
Summerti-i-me

We'll, shut them books
And throw 'em away
Say goodbye to dull school days
(Just) look alive and change your ways
It's summerti-i-ime

(Ba-ba-bom)
Well, no more studyin' history
And no more reading geography
And no more dull geometry
Because it's summertime

It's time to head straight for them hills
It's time to live and have some thrills
Come along and have a ball
A regular, oh-free-for-all

Well, are you comin' or are you ain't?
You slow pokes are my one complaint
Hurry up before I faint
It's summerti-i-ime

(Ba-ba-bom)
Well, I'm so happy that I could flip
Oh, how I love to take a dip
I'm sorry teacher but zip your lip
Because it's summertime

It's time to head straight for them hills
It's time to live and have some thrills
Come along and have a ball
A regular, oh-free-for-all

Well, we'll go swimmin' everyday
No time to work just time to play
If your folks complain just say
'It's summerti-i-ime'

(Ba-ba-bom)
And every night we'll have a dance
'Cause what's a vacation without romance?
Oh man, this jive has me in a trance
Because it's summertime

It's time to head straight for them hills
It's time to live and have some thrills
Come along and have a ball
A regular, oh-free-for-all
It's summerti-i-ime

Ba-bom, it's summertime, summertime
Sum-sum-summertime
Summertime, summertime
Sum-sum-summertime

Summertime, summertime
Sum-sum-summertime
Summertime, summertime
Sum-sum-summertime
Summerti-i-ime.
It's summertime!

Live, Laugh, Love

It sounds so easy, doesn't it???  I have this little reminder that I absolutely love along with some new "herb garden" additions by my kitchen sink.  Sometimes its so natural for me to get bogged down in the to do lists and all of the responsibilities and activities that surround me that I forget my purpose here on planet earth.  Therefore I resolve that, tomorrow my house will be messy, I may not spend as many hours at work as some other people, I may miss a meeting or two, but dagum it if I will forget that I need to spend every day cherishing those that I love!  I have such a blessed life.  I am reminded of these little life lessons by my growing herbs, both the fragility of life and the miracles that happen around us everyday are evident in these plants, along with the value of a little Tender Loving Care!  I found this dried up little herb kit in the discount bin at work and with a little TLC ... voila... I shall have chives, basil and parsley (I think :-)  What an absolute miracle.  From it's meager beginning as dried up seeds and soil and a few pots I can already predict that I will have real herbs - living ones, that I grew, that I can use - amazing.  Busy months like this I tend to rush from one thing to the next - barely taking time to sleep, eat nutritious, excersize, or spend actual quality time with the people who matter the most to me. I feel shriveled up and dry, just like the soil and seeds that I purchased -  I know there is no easy answer or recipie for juggling it all, I just need the occasional reminder to add the TLC and keep on going  Miracles do happen and every day is not to be taken for granted I need to-- "Live" the life I've been blessed with, "Laugh" often mostly at myself - enjoy every moment I've been given and "Love" the people around me- not judge, get angry, or caught up in critisizm, just - love.  It's so simple, yet so difficult... yet I know that  if I allow it, the sentiment in my little kitchen corner posseses the power to revolutionize my life!
note the darling little budah in the corner that represents my husband and all of his dime store wisdom.  That man knows the power of time well spent investing in people, sometimes to a fault, but I could learn from that.  Also the books represent the fact that we are always learning and growing - every day, every new experience is an oportunity to learn and move ahead changing the course of our lives and subsequently the lives of others.  Therefore the moral of the story is... Live, Laugh, Love, Learn and Grow.   I am often enough washing dishes that I cannot help loving the gentle reminder in my little corner and thought I should share it with you!

Down By the Riverside

Sometimes the nicest times come from the nothingest things.  This afternoon Jamie dragged me down to the river to get rocks with Ben for the front yard.  Ben needed some non-screen time and Jamie usually knows that even if he needs to use his coercion skills I will enjoy myself once I get out... it was true, I had a very relaxing time and it was really nice to enjoy Ben having fun....

Whazup at the Chartier House???

Well, it's definately time to catch up.. grab your coffee and have a seat.  I've not been very diligent of late, I'm not sure if it is because life is so busy, or if I'm just being lazy - nevertheless I've decided that the time has come to chronicle the goings on of the last few weeks.  First off, we've had some birthdays!!  Ben is now 6, and Connor is now 12... Reedonculous!  I can't believe how fast time flies.   Connor bought himself a new set of Rollerblades with his birthday money, and we can't hold him back, that guy is an athlete through and through.  He's off to the park, off to soccer practise, meeting a friend accross town... he just go, go goes on his bike or his blades.. that guy gets around.  Although Ben 's birthday was in March we just had his party yesterday.  My friend Brenda whom I like to refer to as "Brenda the Great"  planned the most amazing Pirate Party EVER!!! We had kids in great costumes, they made their own treasure boxes, and then we had the most awesome treasure hunt EVER!!! The kids were here there and everywhere.. they had to "fish" for clues , jump up to "spy" the stars with their piratey spyglass... they popped a box full of black baloon cannon balls for one of the clues.. it was awesome!  The final treasure was a treasure chest piniata filled with gold coins, little bouncy balls, and tons of candy... also Brenda made an AMAZING cake... here's some pics of the big event... Ahoy me hearties!!!
So..... that my dear mates was the party .... and it rocked my world!! Thanks to Brenda!  Earlier in the week we took a half day trip to Waterton Lakes National Park.  Tannis is camping with friends and we miss her dearly, but since the kids are off school, we thought I could take a 1/2 day off and we could see some springy sites.  It was beautiful... I put the pics in my album and you can get a taste of some of what we saw, it was fun.  Other than that we've just been working and keeping to routine.  Easter was nice.  Jamie was working in Claresholm, so Good Friday we had kind of a mom and kids day... went to church, I went for a run to Shane and Brenda's house in Lethbridge, and then they brought me home and we had a little BBQ.  The next day was work from H .. E... double hockey stickes... I'm sooo glad it's over and that is all I have to say about that!!!  On Easter Sunday the kids and I went to the Paska breakfast at church... yummy and fun... we took our homemade Cinnabon's and some fruit.  Then we hit the road with a Turkey dinner to Go.  We took dinner to Claresholm and spent some time with Jamie.  We got cut a bit short bcause he got a call, but he's a rescue hero and we're proud of him when he saves lives.  Other than that.. Easter, Birthdays, road trips... hmm... not much else is going on...I'm starting to get a bit nervous and excited.. it is 36 more days till I run my marathon in Coer de Alene.   I can't seem to find the time to run as many days as I'd like or enough energy to rack up mileage on the days that I'm working, but so far I've managed one 20 miler and tomorrow I'm hoping to tackle a similar fate... hmmm... maybe I should go to bed then.... tomorrow is Sunday and who knows what a new day will bring... Gnite kids!!

An action packed weekend!

Wow! What a whirlwind of a weekend! Friday was an 18 hour day at work... blech.  Saturday we started at 3am, catered a lunch, catered the fanciest most elaborate funeral ever at 2pm - mini quiche, sausage rolls, mini spinach dip, fruit, veggies, pastries, crackers, cheese, meat....etc, etc.  from there we RAN to Taylor's skating carnival - caught the tail end.  Then went home to shower and change for a Chamber of Commerce banquet I was told I HAD to attend at 5:30.  Much to my surprise when I arrived, my sister was there.... WIERD... then my parents showed up.... ODD... then Jamie and the kids... something was up... definately up.  Most of my co-workers were there, but none of their families.... hmmm.  Well, after a fantastic dinner the awards night began.  I  was honored to recieve the Service Person of the Year award from the Coaldale Chamber of Commerce.  Although after working 30 hours in 2 days it felt like a bit of a sleepwalking/ dream state, I managed to stifle my nerves and have a great evening among amazing, yet tricky friends and family. Theo Tams sang and played the grand piano, Ben snuggled voluntarily and involuntarily.  He also won a door prize and was ADORABLE!  The kids all acted like angels, I was sooo proud of everyone.  I am truly a lucky , lucky gal!  I will soon post some pics of the event and my award.  Thanks everyone - you're great secret keepers, and what a really special night.  The only person missing was Carol!  I would have loved for you to have been there, and I promised mom that I would tell you all about it, cause she was disapointed thinking you would have liked to have been there.  Hopefully there are a few pics floating around, that I can get my hands on, it was a memorable night.  After colapsing on Sat. night we rose Sunday for church and a family day - family pizza party for Ben's birthday.  This was fun as well, and Tannis and I finished the night with a Gilmore Girls run in my bed with snuggly blankets and snacks... hmmm a great weekend... I think so!
